Jamaica 2010

Itinerary set by Pastor Sylvester Green. Our hosts were Pastor Godfrey and Watson. The goal of the trip was to become oriented with the field of Jamaica and to determine where we might partner educationally with the pastors/churches. Fairview Baptist Bible College is an established national-led school that serves the Association of Independent Baptists in Jamaica. The school is under the direction of a Board of Directors with Pastor Audley Black (Black River Independent Baptist Church) serving as acting President. Meetings with Pastor Black and the Board of Fairview were helpful in assessing the needs of the college. Additionally, a meeting with IGM national pastors made it possible to propose the adoption of the BTCP (Bible Training Centre for Pastors) curriculum, a church-based pastor/church leader training program. We ere able to speak in five churches: Spice Grove Baptist Church, Providence Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church, Sellington Baptist Church, and Rock Cliff Baptist Church.

The roof damage is due to termite activity. This is the current roof in the old building. The new building does not have a roof and is being build around the existing structure.

Main entrance. Fairview was founded by Baptist Mid-Missions in 1963. The college was turned over to national control in 1997. The campus serves as a Bible college, conference and retreat center, and a summer camp.
